Day 11 - December 31, 2010 - Backyard Sunset

I've spent a lot of time today taking and editing HDR photos and learning as I go. It's my new obsession and I can't get enough of it! It's hard for me to get out of the house and dedicate time to taking pictures only because it's not something that I'm very comfortable with doing on my own. I pretty much stick around here so, until I find an adventurous photo buddy, you get to look at pictures of my backyard. :)

Day 10 - DEcember 30, 2010 -Pacific City

This morning around 9:30, I went outside the cabin, set my tripod on the picnic table and took three different exposures of the same picture. For my first HDR attempt I think it turned out nicely...(although the subject matter is lacking...)

Day 9 - December 29, 2010 -Tillamook

Driving through Tillamook on our way to Pacific City, I snapped a picture of this building and played around with the color until it looked like this.

Day 8 - December 28, 2010 - Blue Heron

I see these blue herons every once in awhile, but I've never taken a picture of one. It was pretty far away in a field near my house and got this pic with my zoom lens. It was also raining...it's always raining, and so I sat in my van, rolled down the window and took some pics. It's a horrible picture with horrible editing, but that's the best I have for day 8! :)

Day 7 - December 27, 2010 - Rain boots

With all the rain we've had this winter, these cute polka dot rain boots have become a regular part of my wardrobe this winter!

Day 6 -December 26, 2010 -The Weeping Yogi

The symbolism behind the Weeping Yogi goes something like this: The world is full of both misery and joy, one cannot exist without the other. The Weeping Yogi is there to grieve for the sorrows of the world, so that you and I can rejoice in the beauty and wonder and joy that also abound in this life. He takes the burden of sorrow away from us, and rests it upon his own shoulders, so that we may feel peace.

Many years ago I walked into a store in the mall and fell in love with this weeping Yogi. I didn't know what it was at the time or what it symbolized, but it was beautiful. My husband bought it for me for Christmas that year. It stands a couple feet high and needs to be rolled when moved because it is heavy. When we move cross country next fall this will be one of the only pieces of furniture that we'll bring with us.

Day 5 - December 25, 2010 -The Reason

I hardly took any pictures today and while this one isn't great, it is Christmas, so it's appropriate for today.

This is a picture of my beautiful nieces, Kenzie and Megan, taken tonight on Christmas Eve at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

Day 3 - Decemeber 23, 2010 - Great Wolf Indoor Waterpark

For Christmas this year we took a trip north and stayed at The Great Wolf Lodge. There is a sign posted on this structure that reads, "Lottsa Water Dump Zone". Every couple of minutes when the bucket fills up, it dumps lottsa water! :)

Day 2 - December 22, 2010 - Mickey D's

On our way up to Great Wolf Lodge we made a pit stop at McDonald's. When the boys went into the restaurant, I grabbed the camera.

Day 1 - December 21, 2010 - Gucci

I have a lot of nicknames for my dog Lucy. One of them happens to be "Gucci". Not because I am a brand name fashion freak who wants to spend thousands of dollars on just one handbag; it's quite the opposite. I'm a simple girl and I sometimes call my dog "Gucci",  simply because it's fun to say.
